Devlog #3: Yaya, Our Thief

Hello again, Rider here.

During previous weeks, Oli and I have been working diligently on the remaining spritework that had to be done for each of our party members.  In this post I'd like to hone in on Yaya, the thief character.

About Yaya

Stuck initially with Amita, Yaya is a somewhat frail yet nimble birdperson. She uses her light-footed and hollow-boned nature to her advantage with her weapon of choice: a long, single-edged dagger. She employs a variety of techniques throughout her skillset to dextrously gore and dismember her foes, and slink away into the shadows when necessary.

Her design is top-heavy to signify her nature as flimsy, but light, as much of her silhouette is composed of cloth. Her outfit is partially inspired by Rwandan and Chadian traditional wear, which I think accentuates her bird features a little more than your standard leather armour thiefwear. Behind Yaya's sprites are small indications that she is simply flailing about for her own life. Of the three party members, I like to imagine she is the most inexperienced.

Oli did a phenomenal job of adapting my sketches into the final product as shown below:

We'll be back next week with even more information, so stay tuned!
