Devlog #7: Overworld Spriting


The team has been hard at work over the past few weeks on the overworld phase of the game. With Nicole working on the background up until just recently, I have been working on several sprites for the monsters as they appear out-of-combat.

Each of the monsters shown below are now capable of turning to face all four cardinal directions in the overworld, and have sprites that match the style of the overworld sprites that each of the party members use. Several of the early-encountered monsters not featured below have also been sprited by Nicole or are in progress by one of us.

The Rat is a simple and small first floor vermin that scuttles around, feeding on the scraps of the cannibalised remains strewn about.


The Worm, similarly, slithers around the rooms at the bottom of the Dungeon, and is much more imposing than the Rat but much slower.


The Mushroom Dropper, encountered a little later into the Dungeon, plants itself onto the ceiling, dropping down onto its victims and eviscerating them with sharp, concealed teeth.


The Piranha Blob is a slime-like monster that hosts maneating piranhas within its liquid form. The blood of its previous victims congeals within the slime of its body.

The Rattled is a rattlesnake-like limbless creature with a giant eyeball for a head, its pupil behaving as a ravenous mouth with which it consumes its prey.
